We do want you to have access to library materials so we are allowing library patrons to place holds and use curbside pickup. We do encourage you to use our online resources including downloadable books, newspapers, magazines and graphic novels. We also have a wide selection of homework resources including online tutoring and test prep in Online Resources.

What is curbside pickup?
Library staff will be pulling holds for patrons Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Once gathered, we will be contacting patrons to arrange a pickup time. This service will not be available during inclement weather.

• Place items on hold as you normally would. 
• You may use our online catalog, the library app “GarlandPL” or call the library at 972-205-2500. 
• You may request copies of the 1040 tax form and 1040 form instructions be delivered with your items. This only applies to the paper 1040 forms and instructions that were sent to us by the IRS.
• We will call you when your items are ready, schedule a pick up time and check them out to you. 
• Park in any available parking spot. 
• Call your library location to let us know you are here. 
• You will be asked to confirm your name, library card number, and the items you are picking up. Please have your photo ID or library card ready to show the staff.
• Your materials will then be delivered to your car and placed in your trunk or back seat.

Items waiting for pickup on the hold shelf are preserved while we implement curbside pickup. Please make sure we have a good phone number for you. Since we are calling everyone about their holds, and are not charging late fines, we have suspended Library Elf until May 9.

Interlibrary Loan has been suspended until at least May 9 and possibly longer while we and other library systems get back to normal business operations. Items already in the request process as of March 17 will be honored when possible. We will not be accepting any new requests.

Garland Libraries have implemented a new open Wi-Fi system. We no longer require a library card to access the internet wirelessly. You do still need to bring your own device to the library and you will need a Garland Library card to access the library’s online resources.

Look for “GarlandPublic” in your Wi-Fi settings - network list. 

GISD Chromebooks can also use GarlandPublic to access Classrooms and Google Docs (our previous system did not always allow this).
